Veteran journalist Macharia Gaitho was abducted on Wednesday morning at the Karen Police Station, sparking immediate concern and outrage. A video captured by his son, Andrew, shows Gaitho being forcibly bundled into a private car by uniformed police officers, alongside others dressed in civilian clothing.

According to Andrew, his father had driven to the police station seeking safety after noticing a suspicious vehicle trailing him through traffic. Despite his attempt to find refuge, Gaitho was forced into the private vehicle while other officers at the station stood by.

At the time of reporting, Gaitho’s whereabouts and the reason for his forced arrest were unknown, causing widespread alarm.
