New Classroom and Water Connectivity Projects Unveiled in Kiru Ward, Muranga County

In a significant stride toward enhancing local infrastructure and community welfare, the Muranga County Government, in collaboration with key stakeholders, inaugurated several vital projects yesterday. The event was marked by the presence of Governor H.E. Dr. Irungu Kangata, the Muranga First Lady, hosted by Kiru Ward MCA, Hon Morris Thuku.

The highlight of the day was the official opening of the newly completed Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) classroom at Kiambuthia Primary School. Additionally, the completion of cabro paving and the final phase of water connectivity in Mbari ya Kio Kiriko village was celebrated. These projects, conceived under the community project fund, reflect the county’s commitment to addressing the most pressing needs of its residents through public participation.

Governor Kangata emphasized the importance of these initiatives, stating, “Our goal is to ensure that every child in Muranga has access to quality education from an early age, and that every household has access to essential services like water.”

The new ECDE classroom and water connectivity projects in Mbari ya Kio Kiriko are part of a broader effort to improve infrastructure across the county. Other recently completed projects include:

  • Warugara ECDE and cabros
  • Kagumoini ECDE and cabros
  • Gititu ECDE phase 1
  • Nguruini ECDE
  • Ruru ECDE and cabros
  • Mioro ablution block

Following the inauguration ceremonies, officials and community members gathered at Rurii grounds for the grand finale launch of the Inua Mkulima Maize program. This program aims to bolster agricultural productivity and economic empowerment among local farmers. Attendees were briefed on the details of the program and the county government’s plans to establish women’s cooperatives and savings and credit cooperatives (saccos) to further economic development.

The event was held in collaboration with Joy Millers, the company behind the Kavagara Unga Brand and various animal feeds. The presence of Kavagara brand ambassadors, including popular figures such as Karangu wa Muraya, Keziah, Samidoh, Makothe, Anita, and Miriam Wa Muthungu, added a touch of celebrity to the occasion, drawing attention and excitement from the public.

Several Muranga County Members of Assembly also attended, demonstrating their support for the county’s development initiatives. Notable attendees included Kanyanyeine MCA Hon. Grace City, Rwathia MCA Hon. Kagori, Ichagaki MCA Hon. Hillary, Makuyu MCA Hon. Muteti, Township MCA and Budget Chair Hon. Machigo, Muthithi MCA Hon. Mbau, Nominated MCA Hon. Mark, and Nominated MCA Hon. Gladys.
