Kiru Ward Continues ECDE Infrastructure Improvement, Seeks Public Input

Kiru Ward, under the leadership of Hon. Morris Thuku-Ngunu, Muranga County Assembly Majority Whip and Kiru Ward MCA, is making significant strides in enhancing Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) infrastructure. Over the past two years, thirteen ECDE centers have seen renovations or new constructions, demonstrating the ward’s commitment to providing quality learning environments for its youngest learners.

The improved facilities span across all locations in Kiru Ward. In Kagumoini Location, Kora, Warugara, Kagumoini, Kagioini, and partially Gititu ECDEs have been upgraded. Kiru Location saw improvements at Kiriaini and Kiruru centers, while in Kairo Location, Kiangima, Kiambuthia, and Kairo ECDEs were renovated. In Mioro Location, Nguruine and Ruru centers were enhanced, with Mioro ECDE receiving new ablution facilities.
Building on this success, Hon. Thuku-Ngunu is now seeking public opinion to guide the selection of up to eight ECDE centers for renovation or new construction in the upcoming financial year.
The selection process considers regional balance to ensure equitable development across Kiru Ward. Additionally, feeder schools which were initiated by local parents, are being given special consideration. Another crucial factor is land ownership—the schools can only be built on public land that has been officially transferred, not on leased properties.

Hon. Thuku-Ngunu states, “Our children’s future starts in these ECDE centers. By improving these facilities, we’re laying a strong foundation for their education. We’ve made great progress, but there’s more to do. I invite all Kiru Ward residents to voice their opinions on which centers should be our priority this year. Your input ensures that our development aligns with community needs.”
Residents are encouraged to share their views through the MCA’s official communication channels. This collaborative approach reflects Hon. Thuku-Ngunu’s commitment to participatory governance, ensuring that Kiru Ward’s development is both strategic and community-driven.
