Kenya’s coffee industry is experiencing unprecedented growth, with record exports reported in the first quarter of 2024. According to the Kenya Coffee Producers Association (KCPA), coffee exports increased by 15% compared to the same period last year, driven by a surge in global demand from markets in Europe and Asia.
Improved farming techniques, favorable weather conditions, and strategic marketing initiatives have contributed to the sector’s success. Kenyan coffee, renowned for its high quality and distinct flavor, continues to fetch premium prices on the international market.
“This is a positive development for our farmers and the economy,” said KCPA Chairman Peter Gikonyo. “We are committed to maintaining high standards and exploring new markets to sustain this growth.”
Coffee farmers across the country are optimistic about the future, anticipating better earnings and enhanced livelihoods. The government has pledged support for the sector through initiatives aimed at improving productivity, addressing challenges such as climate change, and providing access to affordable financing.
