Heightened Security in Nairobi Ahead of Youth-Led Protests Targeting State House

In anticipation of youth-led protests set to take place on Thursday, a multi-agency security team from various police units has been deployed across Nairobi. The demonstrators have pledged to march to State House, marking the culmination of a seven-day protest against President William Ruto’s government.

Following violent rallies on Tuesday, where protesters stormed Parliament in opposition to the Finance Bill 2024, security forces are on high alert to prevent any attempts to breach State House. Heavily armed officers have been strategically positioned around the area, with strict measures in place to block access to any entrances.

In addition, military security equipment has been stationed near State House to barricade surrounding roads. Despite President Ruto’s decision to withdraw the contentious bill, the protesters remain determined to continue their demonstrations, expressing no confidence in the Kenya Kwanza government.
