Journalist Wanjeri Kariuki Shot While Covering Anti-Government Protests in Nakuru

Mediamax Limited journalist Wanjeri Kariuki sustained a gunshot wound on Tuesday while covering the ongoing anti-government protests in Nakuru. The Kameme TV journalist was standing outside a local bank when she was shot in the thigh.

Ms. Kariuki was quickly transported to Valley Hospital by her fellow media practitioners, where she is currently receiving treatment. Mediamax, in a subsequent statement, revealed that Ms. Kariuki was targeted and shot three times, describing the incident as an assault on media freedom and an attempt to deny Kenyans access to information.

The media house has called for a thorough investigation into the incident and demanded that the responsible police officer be held accountable for their actions.
