Police Investigate Possibilities of Cult, Serial Killing, or Rogue Medics in Kware Murders

Kenyan police and investigative agencies are delving into the chilling discovery of dismembered bodies at the Kware dumpsite in Embakasi South Constituency, examining whether the murders are the work of a cult, a serial killer, or rogue medical practitioners. The investigations are expected to take 21 days to unravel the mystery.

In a joint press address on Sunday, Acting Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Director Mohamed Amin assured the public that they are committed to solving the case and have identified some persons of interest.

Eight bodies were retrieved from the dumpsite in Mukuru Kwa Njenga slums, with six recovered on Friday and two on Saturday. However, the number of bodies has been disputed by members of the public who were present at the scene. According to DCI Director Amin, the bodies were in various stages of decomposition, but all victims had met a similar fate.

“The modus operandi was almost the same. If you look at the age, it was between 18-30. These are all female. If you look at how the bodies have been disguised and packaged – all the same,” Amin stated, adding that the bodies were dumped at a consistent location within the dumpsite.

The DCI is exploring several hypotheses: the possibility of a cult linked to criminal activities, serial killers, or rogue medical practitioners. “All these are hypotheses we have tried to bring on board,” Amin said.

The investigation has faced challenges due to rowdy and hostile members of the public at the crime scene. Amin appealed for public cooperation, emphasizing that preserving the crime scene is crucial for the investigation’s success.

Police have also interviewed the family of Josephine Owino, a woman who went missing about two weeks ago. Her family claims a dream led them to search for her at the dumpsite.

Additionally, all police officers from Kware Police Station, located adjacent to the dumpsite, have been transferred as part of the investigation efforts.

The unfolding investigation has gripped the nation, with authorities racing against time to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent further loss of life.
