Mukuru Slums Residents Shocked as Nine Bodies Discovered at Dumpsite

Residents of Mukuru slums in Nairobi were struck with horror on Friday when nine human bodies were found at a local dumpsite. The grim discovery was made by local youths around midday, who alerted the police immediately.

Preliminary police investigations revealed that the bodies were wrapped in sacks, with some appearing fresh while others were in advanced stages of decomposition. Disturbingly, eight of the bodies were identified as women, and several showed signs of burns. It is believed that the victims were murdered elsewhere and subsequently dumped at the site near Kware Police Station.

The police, led by Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei, are treating the case as a murder investigation. Bungei confirmed that the nature of the deaths indicates foul play. “We are investigating the deaths, which point to murder,” he said. The bodies have been transported to the mortuary for identification and autopsy.

The dumpsite, described as expansive and still emitting a foul odor even after the bodies were removed, has raised concerns that more bodies might be found. This discovery comes amidst rising concerns over missing persons following last month’s anti-tax protests in the country. Some of the missing individuals have been found deceased in mortuaries, while others remain unaccounted for.

Various government agencies are currently investigating these incidents, which have left families devastated and communities in fear.
